User reviews
I got this for my 5 year old great-nephew as a birthday gift. He loved it and his 2 year old brother loved it as well. It was perfect for fishing in their grandma's pond for bluegill. It is probably safer for them than a regular fishing pole because the hook gets tucked into the launcher. I would highly recommend this....but I wouldn't think it would do well with big game fish. I fish for walleye and perch on Lake Erie and I don't think it would hold up with larger fish. I definitely had a memorable day and am thinking of buying another one so the boys don' have to take turns.See more

Choosing a tackle box
A good tackle box is another necessity for keeping all your hooks, sinkers, spinners, and extra line organized and within easy reach. To choose the best tackle box for your needs, consider the following features:
Hard vs. soft: While hard boxes are classic, they can be heavy to carry around. Soft tackle boxes, or tackle bags, are an alternative. They’re lightweight and waterproof with enough room to hold multiple plastic boxes with all your lures. If you want optimal durability and fold-out trays, a hard model might be a better bet.
Size: If you’re new to the sport or you’re going fly-fishing, opting for a smaller tackle box makes solid sense. Otherwise, many experts will suggest choosing a box a little larger than you think you’ll need to give yourself plenty of room to grow.
Material: Once upon a time, metal was pretty standard. But it can dent. For hard boxes, look for molded plastic or resin. Durable nylon keeps soft tackle boxes in good shape for years to come.
Terminal Tackle
Just like reels and rods, there’s myriad of choices when it comes to the hooks to use when catching fish. Terminal tackle is the gear that’s attached to the end of a fishing line, and can include hooks, sinkers, weights, floats, swivels, snaps, dodgers and flashers. At Shop fishing gear, you can get all the right gear at the right prices so you can Save Money. Live Better.
What are some types of terminal tackle?
Hooks: Fishing hooks are devices that are attached at the end of a line to catch fish. You can choose from a wide variety of shapes, sizes and designs so you can find the right one for your fishing style.
Sinkers and weights: Sinkers and weights are used along with a lure or a hook to help increase anchoring or casting distance. Sinkers and weights come in a variety of different shapes and weights, perfect for everything from fly fishing to deep-sea fishing.
Floats: Unlike sinkers and weights, floats and bobbers can suspend your bait and carry it to otherwise inaccessible areas of water. It can also serve as a bite indicator, letting you know when you’ve got a fish on the line.
Snaps and swivels: To maximize the action of your spoon, you can use a snap instead of direct tying to your line. For lures and spoons that spin, a swivel will help it spin more freely.
Dodgers and flashers: Dodgers and flashers can help attract fish by simulating light deflecting off a hurt fish. Flashers spin at higher speeds, while dodgers gently float back and forth.
